About Us

Flatwoods Baptist Church was first founded in 1834 when a group of local believers first met for worship. Over the years and several buildings, we now sit on top of the hill of the village of Flatwoods in Fayette County Pennsylvania. We are a small rural church reaching the greater community with the love of the Lord and pointing people to Christ.   We set out to worship God each week directly from God’s word, the Bible.  We offer Sunday School for all ages, worship Sunday mornings and evenings, a Kid’s Club on Sunday evening as well as a Wednesday evening prayer meeting and Bible study.  We would love to share the Good News of Christ with you.

Our Beliefs

We believe in the scriptures, composed of the old and new testaments as verbally inspired by God. And inerrant in the original writing and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:19-21

We believe in the one true and living God, creator and supreme ruler of heaven and earth, who is infinite, perfect in being, eternally existing in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct and harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. Matthew 28: 18-20, John 4: 24, John 10: 30, 1 John 5: 7

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 1:35, John 1:14

We believe in the distinct personality of the Holy Spirit as the third person of the Trinity, whose purpose in the world today is to glorify Christ by convicting men of sin, and guiding and empowering those who are saved. He indwells every born-again believer and blesses those who are fully surrendered to his will. 1 John 5: 7, John 14: 26, 1 Corinthians 6: 19, John 16: 8

We believe that man was created independently in the image of God, (did not evolve out of or ascend from some lower animal ) that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God; And that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility become sinners in thought, word and deed. Genesis 1: 27, 2: 17, 3: 6, Romans 5: 12

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood; That salvation is by grace through faith, apart from any works of man; That all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. Romans 4: 25, 1 Corinthians 15: 3, 2 Corinthians 5: 21, Acts 13: 39, 1 Peter 2: 24, John 1: 12, Galatians 3: 26, John 5: 24

We believe in the preservation of the Saints who are kept by the power of God through faith unto eternal salvation. Philippians 1: 6, 1 Peter 1: 5, John 10: 28, 29, Ephesians 4: 30

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, and his ascension into heaven, and in his present life there for us as high priests and advocate, according to -1 Corinthians 15: 4, Hebrews 4: 14, 1 John 2: 1, Philippians 3: 20

We believe in the invisible church, which is composed of the company of born-again believers. It is called the bride and body of Christ of which he is the head. Ephesians 1: 21, 22, Ephesians 5: 25-32

We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of in water of a believer, in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit; That the Lord's supper is observed by individual believers by the sacred use of bread and the fruit of the vine; Believers are to commemorate together the substitutionary death of Christ in His broken body and His shed blood; Preceded always by self-examination. Acts 8: 36-39, Romans 6: 4, 1 Corinthians 11: 26-28

We believe in the imminent personal return of Christ for the rapture of all believers, at which time they will appear before the judgment seat of Christ. The great tribulation will take place on earth following this event. The Lord will then return bodily to the earth with His Saints to set up His millennial reign. This will be followed by the great white throne judgment of all the unsaved. Titus 2: 13, 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18, 1 Corinthians 15: 15-58, 1 Corinthians 3: 12-15, 2 Corinthians 5: 10, Revelations 19 and 20

We believe that angels are a special creation of God and are ministering spirits to the Saints. Hebrews 1: 14, Matthew 18: 10, Daniel 6: 22

We believe that Satan is a created being, a real person, who was called Lucifer, since his fall he is called Satan and is the source of all evil. He is also the adversary of God and man. Isaiah 14: 12-17, 1 Peter 5: 8, Revelation 20: 10

Robb grew up in Flatwoods and has attended Flatwoods Baptist Church since a young child. Over the years he has grown from attending Sunday School and worship services to teaching and leading them through mentoring, teaching and studying the scriptures. Over the years God has been laying the foundation of ministry in his life thru Godly men and women who were being used to prepare him for the service. As a lifelong member of the community, he has a great love for the people of Flatwoods and desire to see them come to Christ and grow in their faith. While still maintaining his engineering career, Robb has accepted the call to be the pastor of Flatwoods in 2025.
